Item researcher & contributor
Posted on Mon 18 Jul 2005 by AndyM (2065 reads)

Positions available: initially, 5.

Description
The MuggleÂ’s Guide project is turning into a much larger beast than I had ever envisioned, as a result, I have finally given up on the idea of doing it all by myself and am now looking for help.

This position involves researching through the books, picking out characters, items, events, etc., and writing a general description, origins and so on.

How does this differ from the average site visitor from submitting changes or new items? Well, for one, you will officially be a staff member, with the recognition that goes with it. Also, and most importantly, you can progress on to a database editor, with full access to the database (please see the job description for this position).

What is expected of you
I donÂ’t want to continuously look for permanent contributors, so you must be dedicated and be able to contribute on a regular basis.

Requirements
My time is fairly limited, what with coding and other tasks that require my attention with the site (not to mention other responsibilities in my life), so the less editing and re-writing I have to do, the better.

This means that any applicant must have a good grasp of the English language, with good grammar and spelling. Please note that the information in the database is written in British English, and will stay this way, so information is preferred in this format – although it can be “converted”, if needed.

Remuneration
Sadly, no monetary “wages” can be paid as this site makes no money – you will basically be doing this for the love of the Harry Potter series, and the recognition of having your words published here.

Applying

Please use the contact page in the first instance, with some details about yourself, and a working e-mail address – I shall ask for an example later.

Please note: If you are 13 years of age, or younger, you must get a parent to contact me first giving their permission (that can be verified) for you to apply. See the COPPA privacy page for more info.

 Re: Item researcher & contributor
Hey, I saw your message in my Yahoo inbox. And I thought, I have a lot of free time, and I absolutely love Harry Potter, so why not give it a shot? I'm fifteen, I don't know much about British English, I don't need pay, and I have my own computer in my room. Did I mention I am dedicated, trustworthy, and willing to learn? http://myspace.com/harrypotterfanatics10390
